2021.1.19. ／ Patent Prosecution Highway to ease restrictions on the number of applications

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) has announced that the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) with the Brazilian Industrial Property Office (INPI) will allow one application per week starting January 1, 2021.
Until now, the number of applications has been limited to one per month per applicant.

At the same time, the maximum number of PPH applications to Brazil (including those not originating in Japan) was raised from 400 to 600 per year.
This change in the limit will enable us to acquire more rights necessary for our business development in Brazil more frequently and quickly.
