On May 6, 2022, the JPO notified that subsidies for overseas IP litigation expense insurance for this fiscal year will begin for subscriptions as of July 1, 2022.
With the increase in the number of Japanese companies expanding overseas, there has been an increase in the number of cases of disputes over intellectual property infringement in China and other countries, and problems have emerged for small and medium-sized companies, such as being forced to withdraw from business or being forced into a crisis of company survival because they cannot afford the large costs required to handle disputes.

To avoid these risks, the JPO subsidizes a portion of the premium for overseas IP litigation expense insurance, which is paid in the event of a dispute.
