2023.6.16. / Revised Unfair Competition and Sales Prevention Law enacted.

On June 7, 2023, a plenary session of the House of Representatives passed a revised law that brings together six intellectual property-related laws, including the Unfair Competition Prevention Law and the Trademark Law.

This will make it possible to request an injunction against counterfeit products that are sold or transferred in digital spaces such as the Internet metaverse, and also set a certain time limit for the sale of dead copies in the virtual space, etc. Through the protection of intellectual property on the Internet, small and medium-sized companies and start-ups will be able to actively develop new businesses.

In addition, the Trademark Law will allow the registration of a name as a trademark if it has a certain level of name recognition.
