2022.7.15. / JPO Revises Guidance on Licensing Negotiations for Standard Essential Patents

On June 29, 2022, the JPO revised the "Guidance on License Negotiations for Standard Essential Patents" to prevent and quickly resolve disputes over standard essential patents.
This guidance was developed in 2018 to increase transparency and predictability in licensing negotiations for standard-essential patents, which are patents necessary for the implementation of standards in the field of wireless communications and other areas, to facilitate negotiations between patent holders and implementers, and to prevent disputes and resolve them quickly.

The situation surrounding license negotiations for standard-essential patents is being reviewed in line with the social conditions that are changing drastically.
