On December 27, 2022, the Brazilian Industrial Property Office announced that the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) for 2023 will be capped at 800 patents.
The total number of PPH applications with Brazil, including Japan, is 700 for conventional PPH and 100 for PCT-PPH.

When applying, please note that there is a limit of 250 applications per year per IPC section and a limit of one PPH application per week from the same applicant to the Brazilian Industrial Property Office.
The number of PPH applications accepted by the JPO is unlimited.
In addition, as of January 4, 2023, the PPH program between the two countries was officially notified that it will be extended until November 30, 2026.
