Patent System in Japan

The JPO has compiled a list of special measures for those affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake of 2024, including handling of procedures.

The JPO has released the "JPO Status Report".
The purpose of the report is to promptly inform the public of the JPO's statistical information and the results of its measures. The report is written in both Japanese and English so that it can be used as a tool for disseminating information overseas. The report can be viewed on this web page.

On December 13, 2023, the JPO announced that electronic payment of registration tax will begin on January 1, 2024.

On December 11, 2023, the Japan Patent Office announced that it will hold a nationwide briefing session on the "Law for Partial Amendment of the Unfair Competition Prevention Law, etc.".

On December 8, 2023, the JPO announced the creation and publication of the Examination Guidelines for Similar Goods and Services.
